Energy that Transforms the Region: Toward a Regenerative Tourism Model at Estancia Cerro Guido
In the middle of Patagonia’s open landscapes, where the wind sets the pace and distance redefines time, every decision matters.
Today, Estancia Cerro Guido is taking another step in that direction with the launch of its solar power plant: an initiative that not only aims to optimize operations but also to rethink the way we inhabit and plan the land.

A tangible change at the heart of the estancia
The installation of a 100-kVA solar panel network represents a significant transformation in how the estancia operates. This infrastructure makes it possible to significantly reduce the use of traditional fuels and optimize energy management, moving toward a more efficient and environmentally conscious model.
Thanks to this system, it is now possible to reduce gas consumption by 80% and operate for most of the day using solar energy—up to 17 hours in the summer and 9 hours in the winter—.
In addition, there is another benefit that directly impacts the experience of our visitors: the reduction in noise pollution associated with generators.
Less noise, greater efficiency, and a more harmonious relationship with the environment are among the changes that are now beginning to be felt in our daily lives.
But this progress cannot be viewed in isolation.

Beyond sustainability
In recent years, the concept of regenerative tourism has begun to gain strength as a natural evolution of sustainability. It is not just about reducing our impact, but about having a positive effect on the places we live in and visit: leaving the area in better condition than we found it.
This approach takes a holistic view, in which tourism serves as a tool for strengthening the connection between the environment, local culture, and the people who live there.

A model that originated in the region
At Estancia Cerro Guido, this vision is built on the everyday. It stems from the history embedded in its buildings, the traditional crafts that are kept alive, and the connection with those who are part of this land.
The use of renewable energy thus complements a model that seeks to evolve thoughtfully, integrating new technologies without losing the essence that defines this place.
An experience that is also shared
As part of this process, the solar power plant will be included in the Estancia Cerro Guido Cultural Tour.
This way, our visitors will be able to see firsthand how this initiative works and understand its role within a broader vision of regenerative development.
Because today, traveling is also about learning, understanding, and connecting with the decisions that shape each destination.

A territory in evolution
More than just a destination, this is a step in a larger process. A journey that seeks to balance tradition and innovation, maintaining a respectful relationship with the environment and shaping the future with a mindful perspective.
At Estancia Cerro Guido, every step forward is also an invitation: to discover, to think, and to be part of a new way of experiencing Patagonia.
